Song Of the Day: June 23, 2005
Perhaps some of you who love the Flamin' Groovies Sire LPs like Shake Some Action may have missed this obscure 45 on an Australian label which not only fits in pretty seamlessly with those records but also features a wonderful cartoon picture sleeve by lead singer Cyril Jordan. Mr. Jordan has a cool website dedicated to his artwork. You can see the paintings he did for many of the Groovies releases. Also, I found another object to add to my collection of rock related coffee mugs.

Yes! I thought that the Groovies' post-Sire output consisted entirely of live performances, re-recordings of older work, and covers. Good to see that I was (at least in one case) wrong.
This is a great damn song. I might never had heard it if not for you and your benevolent web log. Thanks.
The Flamin' Groovies have got to be one of the most commercially-underappareciated bands of all time. What fucking geniuses they were, and the masses remain to this day too stupid to get it. Yes, this is a fantastic song. I think it appeared on one of the Groovies later compilations on one of those (possibly Euro) budget labels, but I could be wrong. Either way, thanks again to the folks at Little Hits for continually blowing me away with records from my past that I was sure I'd never hear again. I've always been a bit too nostalgic, perhaps, but when one takes a look at the sad state of the nation and the world today, and the disease of popular music that has ravaged it's dying body, maybe pining for a bit of the past is not such a bad thing after all. If I could go back and do it all again... there's a Hell of a lot I'd change.
