Song Of the Day: January 6, 2006

The Individuals - Our World

Plexus Records 45, 1982

The purest pop the Individuals ever came up with was tucked away on the B-side of the "Dancing With My Eighty Wives" single. More generally they were quirkier and less melodic/60s influenced than say, the dB's, but the LP which spawned the aforemention single, Fields, still retains a substantial amount of period charm and has a few Mix Tape Testâ„¢ winners like "Leap Of Faith" and "White." We've never seen a copy of their debut, the "Aquamarine" EP. After the Individuals became just that, Glen Morrow formed Rage To Live and helmed the Bar/None label, Janet and Doug Wygal formed the Wygals, and Jon Klages made an EP for Coyote backed by Yo La Tengo.

Thanks for the Individuals post. They are one of my all-time favorites. I had this 45 years ago and it was great to hear it again. THANKS !!

and maybe sometime somebody can post The Wygals "Passion", a great indie pop stunner [the 12" EP version sounds yards better than the LP version].

Any chance you have the Individuals song "Walk By Your House?" I've never been able to find it, and I used to hear it a lot on WHFS in DC.

This song Our World by The Individuals was real good, I wish that Dancing With My Eighty Wives could be heard on here. There is two other bands I would like to here has well. One is The Brains and they had a song called Money Changes Everything. The other is The Humans they had a song called I Live In The City. I hope someday I can here these songs.

You have "Walk by your house"????
Please, say it's true. I have been on a mission to hear this song since the early 80s (listening to DJ: Damien on WHFS).

It's not like I want it, I just need it.

Note: I've been trying to get this for so long, I forgot to do other things.
