It is interesting how some power pop singles, despite being a product of the DIY spirit of the punk explosion, sound as if punk rock never happened. A good example is the Action, an Ohio band who must have been the world's biggest Raspberries fans. The three 45s they released on their own Radiogram label are the kind of thing I expect some of you to hate, but they do have some serious devotees amongst power pop collectors. Trivial fact: Singer/guitarist songwriter Michael Purkhiser is the brother of Eric Purkhiser, also known as Lux Interior of the Cramps.

I love this band. I have a couple of other tracks that were on some POP ROCKS Compilations that you put together. I ended up with these somehow through the grapevine.
I absolutely this band besides the fact that Michael Purkhiser is the love of my life...currently I am angry at him(not really but yknow what I'm saying) because this is some of the only Action stuff I haven't heard and I love all the rest of it and he needs to get me this first single. And yes, he is a huge Raspberries fan and no, it was not anywhere close to new wave or punk. Oh and his brother's name is spelled Erick...
Hi...my name is Brian. I am the middle one in the picture; I played drums and sang backing vocals on Get Back to Me b/w Any Day Now. Pretty cool to find yourself on the 'net. Thanks for the kind words. I was always partial to the B side...
I grew up down the street from Brent Warren in Medina, OH, and my brothers Pete and Geoff got me into The Action. One of my favorite tunes of ALL TIME is their "Radio Music." I gave my copy of the 45 pictured to Pete. I hope he still has it!
