Song Of the Day: September 8, 2005

I always had this 45 around, but I never realised what a good song it really was until I heard Franklin Bruno do a live solo version of it. It's on the Valley Girl soundtrack too, but does anyone know if their Slash LP was any good?

Are you kidding? Check out my All Music Guide review of Good Clean Fun: this album is a bona-fide lost classic, and for my money, the very best album still never released on CD. Not a duff track in the lot.

Agreed. The LP is fantastic; much better than its awful cover art seems to promise.

I used to have the Slash lp... Bonnie Raitt covered a few of Bonnie Hayes' songs. -- jonhope

Wow, this is great (though I kinda wish I could edit out the ambient "isn't she a blonde?" background chatter). I couldn't help but check www.bonniehayes.com after hearing this track, and it's got three downloadable tracks from Good Clean Fun, including the fab "Girls Like Me."

You can find the original 7" recording of this song (along with a non-LP B-side) by The Punts here.
