Song Of the Day: September 9, 2005

Flop - I Told a Lie

Flop - Anne

Munster Records 45, 1992

Also available on Fall Of The Mopsqueezer LP/CD,
Frontier Records, 1992

Rusty Willoughby has a knack for knocking 'em out in a manner both snotty and tuneful. Perhaps that's because they never seem to say more than is absolutely necessary. Here are a couple of Mickey's favorites from the first Flop LP, neither of which hit 2:00. Mr. Willoughby had a Sub Pop 45 in 1999 and currently has a new band called Llama. You can keep up with his projects here.

Love your site, Jon, and thanks for giving some love to Flop and The Fall of the Mopsqueezer, one of the greatly underrated power pop masterpieces of all time.

Always loved that their name is spelled FOLP on the bathroom wall in that picture.
Brilliant stuff. Everything they ever did was great.

No doubt in my mind -- Flop is one of the great underrated bands of all time. All three albums were fantastic, and like royhaygood said, Mopsqueezer is a masterpiece. Wish I could have seen them live . . .
